Course Description (for SIS)
COMM 4680 will provide students with a solid educational foundation and practical toolset with which to start, co-found, work for, or invest in a successful entrepreneurial venture.
The curriculum will introduce students to the core foundational principles of:
- effectuation
- how entrepreneurs think
- market analysis
- opportunity evaluation
- startup formation
- co-founder agreements
- customer development
- design thinking
- minimum viable product
- product/market fit
- startup financing, fundraising & term sheets
- growth & scaling
- company culture
- liquidity events
At the conclusion of this course, students will have a strong understanding of all the elements that go into conceiving, launching, funding, growing, and selling a successful entrepreneurial venture.
