Course Description (for SIS)
This course is calculus-based and part of the physics major track. It introduces the concepts of electricity, magnetism, and electromagnetism, as embodied by the four Maxwell equations in integral form. The local (differential) form of these equations will also be presented in order to derive the propagation equation for electromagnetic waves.
Lectures will be illustrated by numerous, often spectacular, demonstrations. Emphasis will be placed on thorough conceptual understanding and on the development of problem-solving skills in physics.
