Status Report on the THL Community Projects

We have launched THL’s Community section with very limited indexes of mailing lists, discussion forums, and blogs pertaining to Tibet and the Himalayas, as well as general documentation on the use of such web communication tools. These include documentation of the new THL versions of mailing lists and discussion forums. We also for the first time detailed THL’s collaborative worksites – called “Collab” – so that potential collaborators can understand the various workspaces in THL, and apply to join as suits their interests.
However, essential resources – THL participants, NGO community service reports from Tibet, community resources for Tibetans –are in the process of migration from the old THDL site (www.thdl.org/community/), which has been taken down. In addition, while we have a new social networking-directory application to allow individuals, organizations, and projects in Tibet and the Himalayas to document themselves, we have not yet launched it. We plan over the first half of 2010 to gradually launch these services in THL so that by the summer of 2010 the site will be fully functional.
