Dbus

Latitude 33.617, Longitude 79.801.

Located in Central Tibet, now part of the Ü-Tsang province. Ü-Tsang was formed by the merging of the Gelugpa ruled Ü (where Dbus was located) and the Sakyapa ruled Tsang. Dbus encompassed the Skyid-chu valley where Lhasa is located, and its southern border is defined by the Himalayas. In the Blue Annals it is mentioned as the homeland of several disciples of Dge ba Gsal, who met with him at Mt. Dan Ting. Dge ba Gsal was in route to Dbus around 891 A.D. when he was deterred by famine. Dbus is also mentioned as the second location the doctrine reappears in the 10th century A.D. after many years of suppression, and again as the site of the spreading of the teaching of logic in the eleventh century A.D.
