Sne Gdong

Latitude: 29.391°, Longitude: 91.765°.

In this region was built the Samyae Monastery on the northern bank of the Yarlung Zambo River. This is a significant monastery because it was erected in 779 under the supervision of Master Padmasambhava and Tibetan King Trisong Detsen. This region is located east of the Ü province and bordered in the south by modern Bhutan. In the Blue Annals, Sne Gdong is mentioned as the place Bkra Shis Deal Bzang’s son Rgyal Ba Bkra Shis stayed before being appointed Khri Dpon of Bya Pa.
