NOTE: ALL Kangyur volumes need to be proofed, especially the identification of front and back sections, since Khenpo has not proofed any of these. Sanskrit needs to be checked for all Kangyur volumes.

• All ars volumes: for a text that spans multiple volumes, make sure data in TCR in pagination field (pagination for each volume) and page differential field is entered correctly.

Otani Catalog Chapter Data Entered

Summary of work flow

This work is being input from scans of the original texts,which are housed in Chengdu.

We will start with Phil’s Dege catalog - text titles from Dharma publishing, and only a few info. Only start page, extrapolated end page (so needs to be check). It is in FMP, and Than will export into Word,

10/20/2006: Phil uploaded the latest version of the FMP file to Yousendit. I didn’t download it (it expires after 7 days). I don’t know if Than downloaded it. It is supposed to be a layout that ONLY has fields that will go in the Sde dge catalogue records AND for which Phil’s database has data (for instance, he doesn’t have any chapter title or pagination data, so these fields should NOT be in the FMP file).

We need Phil to repost this file. Then Steve (or Than and Steve) need to look at it and make sure it is what we want.

Then Than will need to figure out how to export it into Word entry form files, one for each record.

Then cataloguers at Naropa do the cataloguing.

Then proofers at Naropa do the proofing.

NOTE: there are two volumes missing from the Dege edition in Chengdu which we need to locate elsewhere. Susan Meinheit at LOC said they have a 1908 (I think that was the date) Dege version so that's probably the best thing to use. We will also need to scan those volumes to complete our set of scans for the Dege Kangyur.
