This collaborative worksite is offered by the Tibetan and Himalayan Library to facilitate the informal exchange of resources on Tibetan literature prior to them being published on the Web. This includes scans, input texts, outlines, summaries, and more of Tibetan texts. Once a text is published on THL, it will not be listed here any longer.
The basic intent is to allow for the sharing of such resources during the often lengthy period of time that passes between their initial creation, and their production in a standard, finalized format that can be published in formal form over the Web. For example, it may be that a text or body of texts is input, but not proofed; or it may be proofed, but not marked up in a form necessary for Web publication, and so forth.
For these reasons, we have decided to create this site for sharing such resources. Anyone is welcome to join the site, which requires a login ID, but we require a price of admission. Each year that you are subscribed to the site, we require you to either submit an electronic input text of no less than one hundred pages, or to accurately proof at least one hundred pages of one of our unproofed texts (preferably from the Kangyur project). If you desire, you can of course pay someone else to do the work - we don't care. We also ask that you do not share texts from here with others, but rather direct them to contact us and join the site - and offer their own price of admission. In this way, we all support each other, rather than this being a one way street where the people who offered these resources, and the THL staff who are processing them, are doing all the work.
The following presents details on the various texts, as well as the means to download them, when available. For easy browsing, they are grouped together in categories determined by genre and content.
