Contemporary Tibetan Art Overview

Tibet University is leading the first major online initiative to document the emergence and trends in Tibetan modern and contemporary art, illustrating one of the most exciting developments in Tibetan culture. The project is uniquely focused on the breadth of visual arts produced in Tibet, and collaboration with contemporary artists. This site features video recordings of interviews with prominent artists as well as photographs of art works to present the diversity and rich context of the artists and art involved. The initial focus is on artists from the Gendun Choephel Artists' Guild located in the center of Lhasa in the Barkor area and from Tibet University's own Art School.
