Sponsors of the Tibetan and Himalayan Historical and Cultural Geography Website
The Tibetan and Himalayan Historical and Cultural Geography offers a framework for publishing the results of scores of independent initiatives involving literary and historical scholarship, fieldwork, participatory research, data processing, photography, videography, and technical work. Thus the overall content and technology behind this work has been supported over the years by many different funders, organizations, and individuals, far more than can be cited here. We are working hard at implementing a system to offer such credit at a granular level, and we welcome anyone who feels inadequately cited for their contribution to contact us so that we can rectify it.
In the meantime, we would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation the crucial contribution made to the initiative by the 
Henry Luce Foundation and the US Department of Education TICFIA program. The overarching technical framework, as well as the preponderance of scholarly content, has been built as of 2011 with generous grants from both. Without their support, this work simply would not have been possible. Hence we cannot possibly express sufficiently our gratitude to the Foundation and Department for their visionary commitment not simply to one of the scholarly pieces, but to the broader initiative as such.
In addition, we would like to thank the UVa Library - the Scholars' Lab and the Digital Media Lab - and UVa's SHANTI for their central contribution to making such a powerful, multimedia geographical engine for publishing scholarly content for Tibet and the Himalayas. Many individuals at all three organizational units have played pivotal roles in enabling our technological development, and without them, the publishing system never would have seen the light of day.
