Polities Status Report

The polities project aims at documenting historical and contemporary polities, as well as their internal administrative units and subunits. All of this data goes into the Place Dictionary so that it can be mapped and searched, but we are also designing a specialized extension to the Place Dictionary to allow for indepth descriptions of Polities. The contemporary nations of China and Nepal can be seen now in the Place Dictionary with their full administrative units, and we are hard at work on historical polities behind the scenes. We will post data gradually, but expect to publish the first version of the Polities web site per se in the summer of 2009.
