Status Report on the Tibetan Medicine Encyclopedia
The Medicine Encyclopedia is still available as a thematic collection at the old THDL site (
http://www.thdl.org/collections/medicine/). We plan to republish it as an Encyclopedia proper in the fall of 2008.
The Medicine Encyclopedia currently contain materials on Tibetan medicine as practiced in Tibet. The Library hopes to expand these resources to encompass medical theories and practices of the entire Himalayan region. Development priorities presently fall under the following rubrics: clinical practice observations, traditional pharmacology, history of medicine, and the relationship between medicine and culture. Development of textual collections and lexical and bibliographic resources are ongoing. THL is eager to engage projects on Tibetan and Himalayan medicine that focus on these or other priorities.
