(6) [Part Six: Miscellaneous Uncataloged Works] (d.4450 - d.4495; 46 texts)

By Kurtis Schaeffer (University of Virginia, 2009)

While Zhuchen’s catalog of the Degé Tengyur concludes with the previous section, the physical Tengyur collection cataloged here by THL contains five further volumes of texts. We have grouped these into a single section of “Miscellaneous Uncataloged Works.”

The section begins with fourteen works of grammatical literature filling three-and-a-half volumes (D.4450-D.4463), followed by eleven works of medical lore (D.4464-D.4474). Many of these are late translations from the fifteenth through seventeenth centuries (D.4450-D.4464), with some have been translated in the seventeenth century under the Fifth Dalai Lama (D.4472, D.4474, etc.).

The Tengyur’s final volume of texts (D.4483-D.4495) contains thirteen works, most of which are either grammatical or divination treatises, and six of which were translated by Zhalu Lotsawa Chökyong Zangpo (ཞྭ་ལུ་ལོ་ཙཱ་བ་ཆོས་སྐྱོང་བཟང་པོ་, zhwa lu lo tsā ba chos skyong bzang po).
