Government buildings, banks and offices are roughly open for similar hours, but the times can vary.
Typical times are:
Monday-Friday
9:00am-12:30pm: Offices open
12:30pm-3:30pm: 2 hour xiuxi (siesta)
3:30pm-6:00pm: Offices open again
Saturday
Some places will be open for a half-day.
Sunday
Typically Sunday is a non-working public holiday.
Restaurant hours: 10:30am- 11:00pm
Shop hours: 10:00am- 9:00pm
In Lhasa a number of main tourist attractions are only open during the morning. Smaller monasteries usually do not have set hours and will open the chapels once you contact someone. Others are known for only opening certain rooms at certain times. Try to tag along with a tour group or pilgrims to ensure open times.
