Creating Language Instructional Materials

Contributor(s): David Germano.

Introduction

THL is committed to using technology to facilitate the creation of new language instructional resources and to aid students of all types in learning the main languages of the area. In particular, the use of new technologies allows students to be directly exposed to natural speech samples via audio-video recordings, and thus learn to master a much broader variety of speech types. The creation of such language instructional materials based on natural speech audio-video recordings involve three major steps, each of which involves multiple phases and challenges.

Detailed Documentation

  1. Making the audio-video recordings
  2. Technically and lingustically processing the recordings
  3. Creating instructional units based on the processed recordings
