MMS Bibliography Manual

Contributor(s): David Germano

THL uses its own external link: Media Management System (MMS) to catalog and describe bibliographies, images, and audio-video resources in a single integrated system. The first step is to study the Media Management System (MMS) Manual in general, and then consult the other manual specific to the type of resource on which you may be working. This Manual focuses on the use of MMS to develop bibliographies of print resources or websites. It presumes that you have already consulted the MMS Manual, and thus know how to login and use MMS in general.

Basic Steps

After logging in, on the lower right hand corner is a link "new text". Click on it and you will get an interface for adding a new catalog entry for a text.

If you have a PDF of the text, then this is where you upload it. Under DOCUMENT, click on "browse" and select the PDF; this should be at the top of the edit page.

You can also add an author and publishing date.

Then hit create and the MMS catalog entry will be created and assigned MMS ID. That is the ID you use in other THL systems to reference this item.

Then click on EDIT, and you will go to the same editing template, but now there are additional fields at the bottom of the form, including title.

Click on "add new title" to add a title.

As of May 26, 2010, not all fields have been added to do a full bibliographical citation. The original template has "private note". We suggest you put the full reference in there, and then the entry can be properly fixed at a later date.
