Configuring Your Computer to Use a Networked Printer

  • Macintosh

  1. Get the IP address of the printer.
  2. Send a document to be printed (Command + P)
  3. On the resulting window, pull down from the "Printer" line and release on "Add Printer"
  4. On the resulting window, pull down from the "Protocol" line and release on "Internet Printing Protocol"
  5. On the same window, pull down from the "Address" line on "IP address"
  6. Type in the IP address of the printer (Example: in SHANTI. 172.16.166.177)
  7. Select the make and model of that printer (Example: in SHANTI. HP CP3525dn)
  8. Obtain the print drivers for that printer: On the web, go to: external link: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
  9. Insert the model of the printer (Example: in SHANTI. "HP CP3525dn")
  10. Click to download drivers
  11. On the resulting window, choose your operating system (Mac OS)
  12. On the resulting window, click to "Download" the driver
  13. On the resulting downloads window, double click on the driver file
  14. Install the driver
  15. In the Print window select the new printer you've just configured
  16. Confirm that the document prints as expected.
  • Windows

  1. Get the IP address of the printer.
  2. Send a document to be printed (Command + P)
  3. On the resulting window, pull down from the "Printer" line and release on "Add Printer"
  4. On the resulting window, pull down from the "Protocol" line and release on "Internet Printing Protocol"
  5. On the same window, pull down from the "Address" line on "IP address"

  9. Insert the model of the printer (Example: in SHANTI. "HP CP3525dn")
  10. Click to download drivers
  11. On the resulting window, choose your operating system (Windows)
  12. On the resulting window, click to "Download" the driver
  13. On the resulting downloads window, double click on the driver file
  14. Install the driver
  15. In the Print window select the new printer you've just configured
  16. Confirm that the document prints as expected.
