Public Holidays & Special Events

It is important to remember that there are certain politically sensitive days when security will be on a heightened alert in Tibet and traveling may be difficult. These days include March 10th which is the anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan uprising. May 23rd marks the signing of the Agreement on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet and Sept 1st is the anniversary for the founding of the TAR. Other dates that may result in protest include March 5th, Sept. 27th, Dec. 10th and Oct. 1st and may result in travel problems.
